Luna’s Birth Story

So it was cinco de mayo! I had a lot planned that day because we never knew when baby girl was coming and i wanted to soak in the time that was just Keloni and I. I woke up and went and got my eyebrows done, we cleaned the house, went to costco, looked at some couches then headed to walmart for our last errand.

Now prior to this i still had 11 days till my due date. I hear a lot of first time moms are notorious for going over their due date. So when i saw my OBGYN earlier that week she informed me that she was on call for Sunday and at work half the day monday/tuesday (UGH. obviously she cant be at my call every second, but she was leaving town and i really really wanted her to deliver me). So at my appointment we also learned that Keloni some how got shingles and he cant be around infant children until sunday! woah what. Okay so if i have this baby before he cant even hold her and my doctor isn’t delivering me. not cool. So at the appointment my doctor leaned down and talked to baby girl and said, “wait till sunday. You can come this sunday… okay baby?” I laughed thinking it was cute.

so flash forward to saturday running our errands. I was picking up some last minute items for delivery (even though i still had 11 days) and i walked away from keloni to go grab something. As i was walking i was thinking “why is my pants wet and did i pee myself??”. I was mortified! I legit thought i peed myself! ahahah. Everyone said it is in the movies your water breaks, most the time women’s water doesnt break that your doctor breaks it. So i walked back to Keloni and i said, “don’t freak, but i think my water just broke…” he said, “are you joking right now?” and he ran to the front and checked out real quick (i told him to because all i was thinking about was “i need to buy stuff for chips and dip to bring for sunday dinner incase this wasnt it ahahah).

We ran home as i called the hospital, because i wasnt for sure.. i wasnt having contractions, but this was for sure not pee. So after getting our bags, watching the derby on TV and getting chick-fil-a we headed to the hospital AHAH. Sure enough my water broke…

As i checked in it was about 5pm. I was hoping baby didn’t come till the next morning because my doctor was on call at 7am.  Well my wish came true… kinda… and my labor lasted 25 hours. 25 HOURS!!  i was dying. My whole body had felt huge, literally. My feet just blew up, my face and my hands. My body was so swollen my eye lids were folding over my eyes (no joke!).  I was frustrated because i just wanted to hold her, but it was taking forever to get there. So the time came to push, i pushed for 45 minutes. It was the craziest feeling, because with every push i would close my eyes and the last one the doctor said “open your eyes kat open them!” i don’t know why but at the time i thought, “am i pushing too hard i need to stop?”. I looked up at Keloni and he was crying and i looked over and there she was being pulled into this world and i lost it. Our sweet baby Luna was born 5/6/18 at 3:50pm weighing 7lbs 12 ozs and 20 1/2 inches long.

She has brought such a spirit into our hearts that i didn’t know existed. After many tears from Keloni and I in the hospital we were just so overwhelmed with the love Jesus has for us. Keloni and I both talked about it after that while i was in labor we have never felt the spirit so strong before in our lives. We both just held each other and cried. It was the best feeling knowing we are about to meet our daughter. We feel so incredible blessed and lucky that we are given this opportunity to be her parents.

Welcome home baby Luna. We love you more than anything in this world.
