Keloni and I knew we wanted to marry each other for a verrry long time
in fact it really was love at first sight
2 weeks into the dating we both said we wanted to get married
CRAZY i know
but, we wanted to enjoy dating life and also to really get to know each other
(but we always knew)
loni was lucky enough to get some time off from his new job in HI and got to come to UT for Christmas
literally i could of not open up one present or do one thing for Christmas and I would of been fine with him here… cheesy i know, but oh so true
Christmas eve morning he arrived at 7:00 am unfortunately I wasn’t able to pick him up since I had to go work the early shift
So he called my father in advance and ask if he could, what i didn’t know is that he also asked if he could take him to breakfast to talk about marrying me.
Again… no idea any of this was happening.
I got off work and met up with my family at the restaurant we eat at every Christmas eve and saw him there for the first time!
I was DYING!
I knew Keloni is an ALL OR NOTHING kind of man. He doesn’t do anything unless he goes 110% into it. If it is football, working out, our relationship, surprises or being romantic
Keloni just got achilles surgery not even two weeks before he came to UT. I knew there was NO WAY he could do anything. He can’t walk, he can’t drive, he can’t do anything.
So this is why I knew it wasn’t going to happen.
boy was i wrong!
Morning of Christmas day we followed our favorite traditions as a family
we had our favorite breakfast, opened presents, played games and baked all day with Christmas music
Keloni then asked if i would get ready and take a photo with him… i literally said, “nahhh, its christmas!! who gets ready on christmas day! You wear your pjs all day!” He begged me a million times, so finally i just put a jacket on and put my hair down for one pic and then got back into pjs.
what i didn’t know is that he knows girls like to be all dressed up for their engagement and he didn’t think i would want to be in pjs and “just woke up look” for getting engaged.
bless his heart.. i totally wish i listened ahahah
that is okay though! I’m fine with the “i just rolled out of bed look”
We then had all the family come over that night from everyone’s in-laws to open presents. I wasn’t expecting anything at all. In fact the whole time i thought i was the one surprising him!
I bought Keloni his helmet from when he played football at University of Oregon. Keloni got a career ending injury on his shoulder which was devastating. I managed (with his best friend’s help, shout out to them!) to get the helmet he last put on and played a game with. It was a long process and i couldn’t of been more excited to give it to him!!
^^^ sorry for the bad quality.. it was taken off a phone 🙂
But here you can see the top two he is so stoked he has a football helmet! Then i told him, “look inside and the number that is on the helmet is the player who wore the helmet.” Of course then he saw it was his number, 43 and he was speechless. It was the best reaction and worth every cent to see him that happy.
Little did i know i was going to get the biggest surprise of all.. Keloni had given me a gift and told me it was really fragile. So i joking took forever to open it. I finally did and looked down and saw ornaments, with each ornament it had a letter that spelled out.. “will you marry me?”
My mouth dropped, i then looked up and saw him on one knee. He gave the most perfect speech. I was crying, my family was crying and everyone was just so happy for us. I never imagined something so perfect. Its wasn’t about all the glitz and glam, but something very intimate and personal. Who better to share this personal part of your life with then your own family. I was so happy they got to witness it and see our engagement start. It was the most perfect proposal and i couldn’t of dreamed up of anything better.
^^this cutie designed my engagement ring. I literally didn’t help him at all. He worked with an awesome company in Hawaii and designed it all by himself.
The next day we were able to go to The Roof and go celebrate our engagement. It was crazy to know we were celebrating getting married! It was amazing to see that temple behind us knowing in a few short months we are getting sealed for all time and eternity there.
I can’t express the love and gratitude i have towards this man. I really don’t know how i got him, but i promise i will try to be the best wife to him and mother to our children. Its been amazing being engaged, its been so fun to see how happy all of the close people in our life are and get to celebrate.
A lot of people have been asking a ton of questions about our life/wedding so here is to answer a few:
*We have been dating 3 years
*Our colors are gold and white
*classy and elegant is our theme
*We will get married in SLC temple May 20th and have a very small intimate formal dinner afterwards
*We are moving Oahu, Hawaii May 21st, because loni’s job is there
Thanks for all the love and support from the close people in our life. We really are blessed.
